The Solheim Cup is named in honor of Karsten Solheim, the founder of Karsten Manufacturing Corporation, which makes PING golf equipment. In 1990, the Solheim family, in conjunction with the LPGA and the LET, developed the concept and became the title sponsor for The Solheim Cup, professional golf's international match-play competition for women. Held every two years, the event has grown into the most prestigious international women's professional golf team event. Des Moines Golf and Country Club, will host the 15th playing of The Solheim Cup, matching the best players from the United States against the best from Europe. Des Moines Golf and Country Club will be the first 36-hole facility in the United States to host The Solheim Cup, allowing the PING Junior Solheim Cup to be held at the same venue.
DAY ONE – Tuesday, August 15, 2017
Depart this morning for Des Moines, Iowa and the Solheim Cup. Your airport transportation to and from Des Moines airport (DSM only) is included in the price of the tour. After check in at the Official Fan Club hotel we will head out this evening to our Welcome Dinner at a favorite local restaurant. Meals Provided: D
DAY TWO – Wednesday, August 16, 2017
We depart the hotel after breakfast this morning for the Hyperion Field Club golf course which was constructed in 1907 under the direction of golf course architect, Tom Bendelow. The greens were originally established with Highland and Washington bent grasses obtained from other golf courses. Many of those original greens remain today. In 1992, the club initiated work on a golf course master plan designed by golf course architect, Bob Lohmann. Many of the green surrounds have been updated with new mounding and sand bunkers, new tees were constructed to accommodate a 4 tee system, the 12th green was rebuilt, and a pond was added on the 9th hole and the 14th hole was completely rebuilt. After our round we’ll have lunch at the clubhouse. Dinner will be on your own at one of the restaurants located near the hotel. Meals Provided: B, L
DAY THREE – Thursday, August 17, 2017
This morning after breakfast will begin with a round of golf at the Tournament Club of Iowa. This par 71 Arnold Palmer course will have a challenge for everyone. Mr. Palmer’s philosophy is “A golf course must be built for all golfers and should be truly beautiful. There can be no gimmicks; every aspect of the course must serve the game of golf in the purest sense.” His talent was not just for playing golf but was also brilliant is his talent and dimension in the area of design and construction of outstanding golf courses is among the leaders of the profession today. We will have lunch at the clubhouse after our round of golf. Return to the hotel and then we will meet in the hotel lobby for a Welcome Reception and then depart for the Des Moines Golf and Country Club where your reserved seating will be waiting at the opening ceremonies at the Solheim Cup. DAY FOUR – Friday, August 18, 2017
Solheim Cup begins! The three-day match-play competition starts with the first two days featuring two sessions each day, with a total of eight foursomes and eight four-ball matches over the two days. The foursome’s format features two-member teams, with players hitting alternative shots using the same ball. In contrast, a four-ball match has each player playing her own ball throughout the entire match. At the end of each hole, the best score of the two teammates is recorded, only one score from each team is recorded for each hole. You will have Wells Fargo Pavilion tickets to use during the tournament. Meals Provided: B
DAY FIVE – Saturday, August 19, 2017
Solheim Cup continues with the foursome’s format features two-member teams, with players hitting alternative shots using the same ball. Four-ball match will play in the afternoon, has each player playing her own ball throughout the entire match. At the end of each hole, the best score of the two teammates is recorded, only one score from each team is recorded for each hole. Meals Provided: B
DAY SIX – Sunday, August 20, 2017
Solheim Cup conclusion with singles competition format, one U.S. and one European player compete against one another. Each plays her own ball throughout the round and records her own score. Go USA!! After the event you may go to your reserved seating at the closing ceremonies. Meals Provided: B
DAY SEVEN– Monday, August 21, 2017
After breakfast this morning we will bid farewell to the Des Moines and depart for home. Meals Provided: B

Deposit Policy: $1,000.00 at time of registration.
Payment Policy: $1,000.00 is due on December 1, 2016 – the remaining balance will be due May 1, 2017
Cancellation Policy: The above-mentioned services can be canceled any time prior to May 1, 2017, for refund on deposit, minus A $500.00 cancellation fee. If services are canceled any time after May 2, 2017, all deposits and payments will be due and payable to Destination Southwest. Any costs incurred to collect monies owed will be the sole financial responsibility of participant. Cancellations 45 days or less before scheduled arrival date will receive no refund.
